Make Money High School College Summer Job Jobs ApplySummer is almost here! Even though it’s only mid-April, if you are a high school or college student, you should be preparing for your summer job NOW before the mad rush. 

The last day for some colleges is the end of April/middle of May, and that will be here before you know it. So will finals, and you shouldn’t be searching and applying to jobs when you should be studying. If you’re in college and have picked a major, try to get a job in the field you’re going into – it will look great on your resume!

If you’re in high school and want a summer job, you’ll have to start looking now as well, since those on summer break in college will scoop up your jobs before you even have the chance to apply!

1. Lifeguard

I feel like this is the quintessential summer job. You can lifeguard at the local pool – or the beach, if you’re lucky enough to live on the coast or near a body of water. You’ll need lifeguard training and CPR training, so it’s best to get a jump start on getting these certifications now. In addition to getting paid, you’ll get to enjoy the weather and get a tan.

Are you a social butterfly that also loves dessert? This is the place for you. The local ice cream shop jobs are the most coveted where I’m from, and it’s been that way for years. Work at either an ice cream or Italian ice shop.

3. Camp Counselor

I did this one summer – I wanted something that would be good on my resume for teaching and thought this would be beneficial. For that reason, I became a camp counselor at a local elementary school and I wanted to get my foot in the door. I actually was able to get a job here when I got out of college, so it worked out really well!

4. Babysitter/Nanny

This is a great job for those of you who want to go into childcare. With websites like , it’s easy to connect with people who are looking for babysitters and nannies. You can even ask around – there are always people looking for reliable and responsible individuals to babysit their children.

5. Coach/Sports Instructor

Are you an athlete? This is a great job for you! You’ll get to hone your skills and get a workout in daily if you’re an instructor and even get some coaching experience in, which is excellent if you want to go into that field in the future!

6. Tutor

Though this isn’t a typical job with specific hours, you can make your own schedule and collect a nice paycheck. You can also get some experience in if you’re headed into the education sector.

7. Restaurant Personnel

There are so many restaurant-related jobs you can choose from. You can even work in fast food at a restaurant or at the mall’s food court. There are so many possibilities and restaurants are always looking for part-time workers.

Are you into cars and are you over 18? You’ll get to drive many different cars – some rare luxury vehicles too, if you are a valet!

Are you always looking to have a great time? Help other people have fun while you work!
