How We Spent Wisely this Week:
I am a huge fan of Le Creuset products. Although they are pricey they are well worth the money, if you can get them at a discount – they hold up for YEARS. I’ve heard of people passing them onto their children. They also have a lifetime warranty!
I’ve received a few of these products over the years – I got some for my bridal shower and have received some as Christmas gifts. I also have purchased two on my own a few years ago – they were on major clearance at my local Williams Sonoma store and I couldn’t pass up such a good deal. They are great products – I know firsthand because I’ve used them for years.
If I’ve been thinking about purchasing something for over a week, it goes on my wish list. I only get the items on my wish list if they’re on sale or if I can save money.
I’ve been eyeing Le Creuset Cast Iron Rectangular Skinny Grill for months. Lucky for me, both of these credentials were hit.
I received an email from Williams Sonoma informing me of a sale on the Le Creuset Cast Iron Rectangular Skinny Grill for 50% off at $89.95* (usually $185). I thought about purchasing it and gave myself time to think about it and shortly after, I received an email containing $25 in rewards money from my Williams Sonoma credit card. This was a sign! I purchased the product on sale, with my rewards cash and with my free shipping perk from having a credit card with the company. Major win.

We Saved: $120.05 on a $185 Bill
I paid $64.95 for something that normally cost $185 and got free shipping.
*As of the time this article was published, the skinny grill is still on sale, but for $99 instead of $89.95.
How We Saved Money this Week:
While doing a spur-of-the-moment food shop, I noticed that both the zucchini and ground chicken were on sale. I’ve made Chicken Parmesan Stuffed Zucchini Boats and received rave reviews in the past, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to make them again and save money since the main two ingredients were on sale.
You can find the recipe here and also watch a video! It’s by one of my favorite chefs, Laura Vitale. I’ve made so many of her dishes in the past and got nothing but compliments each time. Check out the rest of her recipes while you’re at it – she does a great job!
I bought extra ingredients so I could make a large batch all at once and have a packed lunch for work the next day for the two of us. I purchased 5 large zucchini and 3 lbs. of ground chicken and it made 10 large zucchini boats. This fed both my parents and the two of us for dinner. I also sent my parents home with two and took three to work the next day with us for lunch. Not only did I save money on dinner, but also lunch the following day!
Here’s a tip: Look in your supermarket circular beforehand and come up with what you’ll make with the items on sale!
